Many of us are well aware of the need for protection against the sun’s rays because they are potentially harmful and could cause skin damage including sunburn or even skin cancer.
Sunblock or sunscreen?
The difference between the two is that sunscreens absorb UV rayschemically while sun blocks deflect them. Sunscreen products block UVB effectively, but provide less UVA protection although formulas are being improved to enhance protection. Sun blocks are also being enhanced to offer better protection against both types of sun rays.
Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going into the sun to allow the sunscreen to set.Chances are that younger kids will not apply sunscreen correctly. Regardless of SPF, skin is unprotected if it is not evenly applied. Be sure to apply generously in all areas- even those cute little feet! Also, keep in mind water’s effect on sunscreen; the water amplifies the rays. Be sure to reapply after generous amounts of time in the water.
