You probably know that February is a month all about love, with Valentine’s Day smack dab in the middle. But did you know that it’s not the only holiday focused on feeling good? That’s right! Random Acts of Kindness Day is February 17th! How can you get your kids involved in this great event? Check out some ideas from The Fun-E Farm!
- For Strangers. A random act of kindness can be something simple, like holding the door open for someone at the store, offering a sincere thank you to the people who serve you, or making cards to send to a local nursing home. It can also be something more complicated, like a Kindness Jar or a day volunteering at a local non-profit.
- For Your Neighborhood. Pick up trash you see on the sidewalk, in the park, or on the side of the road if you can do so safely. Pick up after your pets. Donate your gently used toys and clothing to local charities.
- For Family and Friends. Nothing says “I love you” like a little time together! Call family members you haven’t spoken to in a while. Write letters to far-flung family or friends, and then use some glitter, glue, and stickers to dress them up. You can even send thoughtful gifts, like books you think they may like.
Random acts of kindness don’t have to be expensive or hard, but they can really lift everyone’s mood–including yours and your kids! Don’t forget to reward yourselves with a trip to The Fun-E Farm afterward!
